About The Institute

The National Institute for Literacy was established in 1991 by the National Literacy Act and extended under the Workforce Investment Act.

Steve Langley

Steve Langley, a Staff Assistant, joined the National Institute for Literacy in April 1997. Mr. Langley edits text for the Institute's Web site and performs other editing duties, responds to requests for literacy information, handles the Institute's general incoming calls, receives guests and visitors, and performs other administrative duties. Prior to joining the Institute, Mr. Langley worked nine years as a copy editor at The Charlotte Observer in North Carolina, Insight Magazine and the Congressional Quarterly. He also interned at The Washington Post and The Philadelphia Inquirer. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from Howard University, 1982.
