How do I subscribe to the list?

To participate in the NIFL-AALPD discussion list, go to the "Subscribe to the NIFL-AALPD List" page and follow the instructions.

How do I unsubscribe from the list?

You may remove yourself from this list by going to the "Unsubscribe from the NIFL-AALPD List" page and following the instructions.

Important! Make sure you enter the email address that you used when you subscribed to the list.

How do I send a message to the list?

Send all messages to be posted to the members of the list to:

NIFL-AALPD@NIFL.GOV

The subject line should indicate what your message is about. Just type your message and send it like any other regular e-mail. The message is received by the server and will be automatically re-posted to all list subscribers and to the web-based list archive. Help with email clients

Important! Note that messages to be posted should be sent to NIFL-AALPD and not to LISTPROC. Also, remember to use the email account that you used to subscribe to the list when sending messages.

How do I respond to only one list subscriber?

In order to respond to only one subscriber in the list rather than the entire list, use your "FORWARD" button in your email client and put the email of the single subscriber in the "TO" address box. This way you can send the contents of the email along with your comments without cutting and pasting.

How can I find out how many subscribers are on the list?

In order to find out how many others are subscribed to the list, send a message to :

LISTPROC@NIFL.GOV

with a message body of:

recipients NIFL-AALPD

To prevent the gathering of email addresses on focused groups, the subscriber listings for all NIFL lists are concealed (not available to the typical user). To find out who is subscribed to the list, send a message to the list moderator. Each moderator receives an up-to-date listing of subscribers for their respective lists weekly.

How can I look at archived messages?

Each discussion list has its messages automatically archived. This can be useful for newcomers who want to catch up with the discussion, or for posting and archiving.

To access the archived messages, go to the NIFL-AALPD Discussion List page and click on the desired archive year link that is on the left hand side of the page.

How can I set my subscription to receive messages in digest format?

In order to receive list messages combined in one email send a message to

LISTPROC@NIFL.GOV
with the following in the body of the message
set NIFL-AALPD mail digest

Important! Make sure you send this email from the email address that you used when you subscribed to the list.

How can I set my subscription so I receive individual list messages (non-digest format)?

To stop the digest form of list mail and resume receiving individual mail from list, send the following in the body of the message

set NIFL-AALPD mail nodigest

Receiving individual list messages is the default at the time of your subscription.

How can I temporarily stop messages without unsubscribing?

Temporarily stop list messages by sending a message to

LISTPROC@NIFL.GOV
with the following in the body of the message
set NIFL-AALPD mail postpone

Restart postponed messages with this in the body of the message

set NIFL-AALPD mail ack
