Thanks for your post. And for explaining the overall rationale of your
training module. I'm very grateful for your gift. I've developed my own
training module integrating Basic Literacy and ESOL techniques in an 18
hour Literacy Volunteers tutor training format. And while our order is
different, the fundamental concepts are them same. The challenge of
integrating adult learning, frameworks such as EFF, language
acquisition, and intangibles like the varieties of adult learning and
tutoring styles make it imperative that a framework such as EFF link it
all together. I'm starting with goal setting, because it gives the
variety of language techniques a focus. And having "universal,"
transferable skills as objectives, though maybe a no-brainer, is a
revelation in how to present the difference. Thanks for helping me to
learn. I work part-time, and I do projects such as this on my own time
for my own professional development. I'm interested in doing more to
"professionalize" my module, and in learning more about program
development and curriculum design. Thanks for being one of my
long-distance "teachers".
Best,
Bonnie Odiorne, Ph.D.
