I'm Carolyn Bronz and I teach a Getting Ready To Work class here in
northern Vermont. I'm interested in the Canton program's Career
Passport system, which documents students' credentials and marketable
skills. Could you describe this in more detail and maybe share some of
the documents you use to describe and verify skills? Here we have each
student assemble a portfolio with three sections: academic, career
exploration, and experiential skills. This year I am asking students to
reflect on and evaluate their 6 best pieces/accomplishments through the
lens of EFF skills. I slightly modified your "For the Portfolio" sheet
(page 83 of the new EFF book) for this, and it is definitely taking my
students into a new level of appreciating what they've done, and finding
ways to connect it to their lives. Thank you for this great work! We
could do this because from the beginning of class I made the EFF wheel
our steering wheel, and the students are familiar with the range of
skills beyond reading writing and math. But I need to find more ways to
integrate EFF concepts into what I do every class. I would love to hear
more about how you use EFF standards to help students become more
employable and more successful in their lives.
