MEES projects provide year-round services in adult education/ESL, early childhood education, parenting education, and interactive literacy activities with parents and children together (PACT). The program is designed to: assist parents in obtaining their HS diploma or GED, prepare them to be their child's first teacher, support developing reading skills in young children, thus helping migrant families break the cycle of poverty and illiteracy. The Zippy Application Package (ZAP) for Migrant Education Even Start was published in the Federal Register on Tuesday, May 30. The application will be on-line from May 30 through the July 14, 2000 closing date.
