I think it's reasonable to say that at the beginning of any instructional cycle our attention gets turned to the subject of goal setting. I, too, have been thinking about goals for the new year as they relate to people and programs using the EFF Framework, and I would like to begin a discussion about it here: What are your goals for using the EFF Framework this year? How will you implement EFF in your classrooms and programs? What strategies do you expect to use? I'm also interested in the evolving role of EFF in programs, so if you've been using the EFF Framework, how has your past experience informed your planning for this year's activities? And based on your previous experience, what's changed in your approach to teaching and learning? What will you be doing with EFF this year that's new and different? Please let me remind you that this list is also a good place to pose questions about the how and the what of doing EFF. I think others may have the same questions as well as helpful insights and valuable information to share. When I reflect on how different people may be planning to implement EFF, here are some of the things I'm interested in knowing about: *Using the EFF Framework to communicate with staff, students, and community members about the goals and purposes of education, and the relationship between what people know and what they can do. *Using the Framework to create and take advantage of opportunities for students to develop and practice skills they need to carry out activities and accomplish purposes in their lives. * Using the standards and the role maps as tools to help students weave together planned and found lessons. * Using the EFF Framework to construct lessons and learning activities that build on students' prior knowledge and help them develop more complex ways of understanding their experience and planning for the future. *Using the EFF standards to begin to develop assessment tools that monitor and document progress toward goals. NIFL-4EFFers, what are your plans for implementing EFF, and how do they relate to the program processes I've listed above? Will you be doing any or all of these things this year?
