Don, I suggest you go to Juliet Merrifield's EFF Research Report: Building
the Framework, 1993-1997. Section 3 is about Concepts and Theories in EFF --
 1. a purposeful view of learning; 2. education rooted in the context of
adults' lives;
3. application, not posession, of skills; and 4. adult development as
transformation. Overall, I think the report makes a clear case for how EFF
builds on and contributes to the work of men like Dewey, Lindeman, Knowles,
Mezirow, etc. In fact, the EFF report's References section includes some of
their publications.

The EFF Research Report: Building the Framework, 1993-1997 is available via
the EFF web site at:
<http://www.nifl.gov/lincs/collections/eff/merrifield_eff.pdf>
or for a hard copy from the ED PUBS Clearinghouse, call their toll free
number: 1-877-433-7287. Request publication # EX0106P.

Don, good luck with your search! If you discover some good stuff on this
topic, I hope you'll share those resources with us here.

Thanks,
Ronna
