I think that's a wonderful idea, and for all cultures. Your comment reminds me
that I've been meaning to respond to the comment that the Standards/Role Maps
would need to be translated not just into other languages, but through other
cultures. I think this would mean looking again at the EFF original data samples
to see how many cultures might already have been represented. And I accept the
point also made that adult learners need to understand the expectations of
"American culture," but that assumes that there is such a thing. We might
perhaps look at how other cultures view the role maps especially, not perhaps in
view of changing the maps, but in pointing out to practitioners where the
cultural differences would surface. Thanks for the comment reminding us that we
serve not just those from other countries, but those in our own country who have
had a significant culture for longer than Europeans and other settlers have been
here.
