I am largely "self-taught" in EFF, having had only one training, and find it hard sometimes to reel off standards and common activities and such. But what I like about the list serve is that without it all those words in the "Blue Book" would be just that. I admit that when I first came across the framework, I felt that it needed to be "translated," and not just for our students. And what people do here is to apply these words to the most particular everyday situations in which we find ourselves, and I find them surprisingly useful. Just yesterday a student was working on her resume and under "activities" she's put "like to help others solve their problems." I knew this was a skill worth including but couldn't find the words. And then it came to me: look up EFF! and "advocate for oneself and others" jumped out of me; others would have worked just as well. And as others have said, then you can go through all the skills involved in that standard and find a lot of steps you might have missed in its application. But it took all of you and our discussions to allow me to have that insight. Thanks, all, for taking the time to help all of us understand and apply our knowledge.
