I see the difficulty... Perhaps context would be the family situation and
the necessity for the parent to improve basic skills in order to help kids
with homework, which is a fairly nebulous reason, somewhat analogous to
"reading with children." I would then say that "purpose" would be the
particular things that the parent needs to learn, as well as his/her "own"
reasons for learning, as well as goals, finding a voice, community/school
involvement, workplace/employability skills improvement and the like, which
would be by-products of the "helping with homework" "presenting reason."
Don't know if that's clear...
