I just want to tell you about one of the states, since I am working closely with them in their efforts. That is the beautiful state of Hawaii. As we worked on the Even Start Performance Indicators, we took into account the EFF Framework and how the components might strengthen the approach to family literacy. We were pleased to report that in every component of the Even Start program, there is a reason for and an application to EFF. I just returned from providing tech assist to ES programs there, and I can tell you that their efforts to incorporate the EFF Framework are making a difference in how they approach teaching and learning. The same can be said for the 51st State, the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the FACE programs, who are working to implement EFF across the board. The concepts of EFF work especially well in these programs, which strive to help learners acquire both a sense of mastery and a sense of service. Meta Potts Literacy FOCUS Glendale, Arizona
