I agree that the assessment field research is exciting and know there is a sizable group of people who can’t wait! Remember, they were waiting at the airport to hear about progress, and ready dates, and they ask me repeatedly. Then there is another group who isn’t much interested in EFF until the assessments are available and part of the NRS. I think they have missed out on a lot but what can we do? One big difference the assessments are going to make is that there will need to be a lot of staff development and support for new users, those workbook teachers like I used to be. I suspect also that when the assessments become “official” there will be a new surge of validity and interest for EFF. Lastly, but really first, are the learners who will be initially bewildered and then amazed by the new kind of experience in store for them.
