Thanks very much for mentioning Pressley's work, I downloaded "Effective Beginning....."  It is terrific.

Pressley mentions "grounded theory." Some may be interested in "The Discovery of Grounded Theory," Glaser and Strauss, 1967, an oldie but goodie.

In another post I mentioned the brain, language,and reading. Language is the foundation for reading, so whatever we do to develop language skills will support reading  development, I  think that is one of Pressley's main points.
