How is education different from schooling? What are the qualities of an educated person? What should schools do to help students become educated?” I am working on making a case that education should enable the development of wisdom, that being educated is a continuum rather than an either/or situation and that the qualities of education relate to fulfillment of roles in beneficial ways which requires in turn, application of the 16 EFF standards to some extent, depending on the person’s roles. This topic coincides with some recent postings on the purpose of education. I am interested in how other people see these questions and particularly interested in how people might bridge the development of wisdom and the standards.
