Mr. Zaner,

I was reared in Sonoma County. Windsor, as a matter-of-fact. Have you
lived there all your life?

Subject: [NIFL-4EFF:2580] New to the list

I am new to this list and would like to introduce myself. My name is
Bill
Zaner and I am a member of the Board of Directors of the Adult Literacy
League of Sonoma (CA) County (ALL). We are an all volunteer agency
providing ESL services to adults in our region. Currently, we have 150
volunteer tutors serving approximately 165 learners. Our agency
provides
four "programs". 1) One-on-One tutoring 2) Workplace Literacy Classes
3)
Literacy Services for Small Groups (churches, non-English speaking
clubs,
organizations, etc) and 4) an English speaking Lab for those who want
extra
practice in using the spoken language.

ALL is over 40 years old and our Board is embarked on an intensive
effort to
re-evaluate our methods, practices, curriculum and overall operation. To

that end, we're looking at EFF as a potential model for our future
operation. Right now we are in the information gathering stage trying to

understand as much as we can about EFF. Consequently, I may ask some
pretty
elementary questions in the coming weeks.

I look forward to participating in the list and ask that you bear with
me
for a bit while I come up to speed. Many thanks in advance for your
(collective) help.

Bill Zaner
