I am relatively new to EFF. I began using it in my classroom in October 2002. Our program also includes it in enrollment and orientation. My students come in very GED focused. Now that EFF practices are being implemented and the program director and myself are becoming more comfortable using it, the students can see the bigger picture and understand how their new learning can improve their everyday lives, and lead to things in addition to and beyond getting the GED. The students seem more motivated to learn, committed to attending class, and are more active in their own learning. I am more student focused, more reflective of my learning activites as well as the effectiveness of my lessons, and I am aware of how my teaching methods must be more fluid and able to adapt to student needs. The program as a whole is touching the student in a more personal, lasting way. Lisa Mullins, Hawkins County Adult Education, Rogersville, Tennessee
