All the Best, Meta Potts, Moderator 4-EFF List Glen Allen, VA mwpotts2001@aol.com "NATIONAL PREPAREDNESS MONTH" OFFERS TOOLS FOR PARENTS & STUDENTS There has been much discussion of preparedness. With the recent Hurricanes and the beginning of hurricane season, preparedness has again entered into our conversations. Preparedness is more than having a kit or having a single talk with your children about emergencies. With preparedness being used in so many situations, we often lose sight of exactly how important it can be. Preparedness is a cornerstone of building resilience in your children, families and the settings that serve them. In support of the Department of Homeland Security’s "America Prepared Campaign" and the department’s proclamation that September is "National Preparedness Month," the Terrorism and Disaster Branch of the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN) is making preparedness materials available including: Family preparedness guidelines, family preparedness wallet cards, and information about assembling preparedness kits for parents and children (all available in five languages); Information for schools regarding disaster preparedness and planning; and Information on the unique effects that terrorism and disasters have on children. http://www.nctsnet.org/nccts/nav.do?pid=ctr_terr_resources
