Hello everyone,
Have you tried sending a message to NIFL-AALPD and have gotten an
undeliverable message back? We've noticed the requests for help by
AALPD
members whose messages have appeared blank. Why has this happened? Why
can
we not share in the questions asked by some of our colleagues?

The answer to this trick is twofold. First, the list is set up to
reject any
messages sent with an attachment in order to prevent the propagation of
email
borne viruses.

Second, All messages sent to the list must be in plain text format.
Many
email clients by default send MIME/HTML formatted messages, which
include the
message body as an attachment. The message then gets rejected by the
server
because of the attachment. The result in either case is that the sender

receives an 'undeliverable' message in return, and we never see his or
her
post.

To assist you in sending plain-text messages, visit:

http://www.nifl.gov/lincs/discussions/help/nomime.html

If, in the meantime, those of you who have sent timely messages to the
list
that were undeliverable, I will be more than happy to forward your
message to
the list until such time that you can reconfigure the setting within
your
email client. Simply resend your message to <jataylor@utk.edu>.

I hope this helps. Please feel free to contact me if you need further
assistance.

Best,
Jackie Taylor
