Dear Bonnie,

Thank you very much for you detailed reply, I appreciate the time and care you put into it and I will take more time myself to study it later. I always prick up my ears when someone uses "covenant" as it is so integral to both Judaism and Christianity as influential belief systems in this area of the world. You bring up fascinating stuff.

In the spirit of reciprocal gift giving, I pen (word process) the following.

i have been influenced by A.K. Rice and Bion, "Experiences in Groups," also George Homans, "The Human Group," and the Tavistock movement--that's the Rice tie-in.

6 of Bion's principles for good group health--he was a WW2 psychiatrist:

1) Common purpose....
2) Common recognition by members of the group of the "boundaries" of the group....
3) The capacity to absorb new members and lose members without fear of losing group individuality....
4) Freedom from internal sub-groups having rigid (i.e. exclusive) boundaries....
5) Each individual member is valued for his [should be "their"] contribution to the group and has freedom of movement within it....
6) The group must have the capacity to face discontent within the group and must have the means to cope with discontent...

Ron Heifetz at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard, also talks--and teaches--about group suicide and assassination.

I will post later today some more useful and practical information about ERIC for those who want to take on advocacy and try to keep ERIC alive. Thanks for picking up on this thread; myself, I can't imagine my professional life without ERIC as a resource.

Andrea
