Good morning, everyone,
In compiling the evaluation results from the NIFL-AALPD evaluation given out
this fall, one request by some respondents was the need to hear more from
teachers about their perspectives on professional development. These
questions are for teachers who have given and/or benefitted from
individualized support in learning how to teach adults:

1) What has been your experience in giving/receiving individualized support,
as happens in teacher mentoring programs? What types of mentoring programs
does your local program or state provide?

2) Regarding visiting other teachers' classes, what models have been tried in
your area? In your state? What is required? What have been the benefits to
teachers?

3) What would you recommend to program directors or to state funders regarding
the inclusion (or not) of mentoring programs for adult literacy teachers?
What important components (if any) would you stress/highlight?

If anyone happens to share these questions (or modified versions) on public,
statewide teacher discussion lists, please feel free to cross-post repsonses
here. Teachers, your perspectives on PD are a valuable and important
contribution to our discussions. Thanks for sharing, and for joining us in
this forum.

All my best,

Jackie Taylor
List Facilitator,
NIFL-AALPD
