I just compleed a three-session workshop on sentence writing and paragraph
writing strategies based on the Learning Strategies Curriculum developed at
the University of Kansas, Center of Research on Learning. See
www.ku-crl.org
for details. The materials are designed for 7-8th graders with learning
difficulties. While there's way too much information that would be directly
usable for my program, there is also much to draw on that I expect to be
implementing in January. For use at the direct program level in my setting,
the materials would take a lot of streamling, while not losing the
fundamentals. Moreover, the pedagogical assumptions that govern these
modules might need to be reconfigured in some way in light of vartious
student-centered adult education pedagogies.

Perhaps there is an adult education institute that could work with the
Center of Research and Learning to figure out how to craft trainingmodules
that would be morre directly appropriate for adult literacy, ESOL, and GED
instructors
