Jackie,
I am responding to your request to share our professional development model for a small state. Our "hot topics" for this year come as a result of our 2003 Adult Education Summer Institute: Quality Adult Reading Programs practitioner feedback and
Maine Department of Education planning. As year-long model we are offering the following professional development offerings in regional sites throughout our state.
Creating Authentic Materials and Activities for the Adult Literacy Classroom, with Erik Jacobson
Making Classroom Assessment Work, with Anne Davies
The Teaching/Learning Cycle, with Andy Nash
Reading Essentials for Adult Literacy, with Evelyn Beaulieu
Foundations of Curriculum Development, Maine Teacher Curriculum Team members

You can view our web site calendar page for the workshop descriptions and information.
