I have been lowering my effexor dose, and it may have something to do with my behavior. I'd like to share how I feel. When I post things in the newsgroups I do it because of my love for the field. I know that I am sarcastic, at times. However, I try to post everything based on research, theory, and practice. I try to base everything that I say on evidence that I have tried to analyze critically and that is based on current knowledge in the field. I was told I while back that we couldn't post certain words, deemed inappropriate and that could be considered lobbying. In other words, we could not tie our comments to daily happenings and we needed to stick to literacy in decontextualized fashion. We could not contextual it to war, politics, etc. While this is inconsistent with the current knowledge of literacy theory ad practice, many of us acquiesed and stopped doing this. However, on occasion, someone posts stuff that is completely off topic (children's literacy), that is clearly ideological propaganda, that is not based on any scientific research, and that constitutes lobbying for a political cause based on what we were previously told. Since I have spent a lifetime building knowledge on the field, I get slightly disturbed when people post political propaganda. Interestingly, nobody gets offended by the inappropriateness of that post, but people get offended by my language. Again, I ask for an apology and I mean it.
