Perhaps we could invite the guests as participants, and find a facilitator knowledgeable in the content area. And I see Bob's idea about document sharing & discussion of resources used effectively in PD working well, provided the document is already online. (I seem to remember a couple of suggestions about how that could be accomplished!) The concern I have is when we pick a resource that, while the contents may have some kind of implication for PD, we find ourselves being constrained by the purpose of the list. In other words, we find that we begin forcing ourselves to make PD connections with each post, just so that we can discuss it in this forum. When that happens, I then wonder if we are really doing ourselves -- and the issues -- justice because the discussion becomes limited before we even begin. So, if we are truly invested in the idea, we either get creative and explore ways in which the discussion can be had (dividing the discussion in to parts, as in the study group example) or we find resources better suited to the time investments we can make. And no, it's not too late to respond to my question about activities for the discussion list. Thank you for your thoughtful reply.
