Do you have a reference for the "Department of Defense research on instructional design" that illustrated your main point:  too many variables to "fit" into an experimental design?

Thanks for the boost to Andres' approach "knowledge development,"--it's what education is all about, anyway, our own home-grown effectiveness measure.
