Q: Does subscribing to the NIFL-AALPD discussion list de facto create membership with AALPD? A: No, it does not. Anyone can subscribe to the list without being a formal member of the organization. I do hope, however, that those of you working in professional development will consider formal membership. Not only would you have a voice in the COABE preconference design and other special issues that arise, but formal membership also strengthens advocacy efforts. If you think you were a member in previous years or if you're not sure, it wouldn't hurt to join or renew membership anyway by completing the short, online form at: http://www.aalpd.org/membership_form.cfm . Members vote on the slate of officers when they join or renew membership. Also, some of you expressed interest in the state-by-state membership count. Below is a new list, updated the morning of November 29th. 39 states and the District of Columbia, as well as a total of four countries, are represented among AALPD membership thus far. See below!
