Hello everyone,
A list subscriber recently asked a question that I would like to share with
you, in case others are wondering the same thing.

Q: Does subscribing to the NIFL-AALPD discussion list de facto create
membership with AALPD?

A: No, it does not. Anyone can subscribe to the list without being a formal
member of the organization. I do hope, however, that those of you working in
professional development will consider formal membership. Not only would you
have a voice in the COABE preconference design and other special issues that
arise, but formal membership also strengthens advocacy efforts.

If you think you were a member in previous years or if you're not sure, it
wouldn't hurt to join or renew membership anyway by completing the short,
online form at: http://www.aalpd.org/membership_form.cfm . Members vote on the
slate of officers when they join or renew membership.

Also, some of you expressed interest in the state-by-state membership count.
Below is a new list, updated the morning of November 29th. 39 states and the
District of Columbia, as well as a total of four countries, are represented
among AALPD membership thus far. See below!

Best,
Jackie
