Please read on ~ Jackie] ------- Subject: teacher qualifications in assessment Hi again everyone, I have another query for you all: I’m trying to collect assessment information on programs that offer higher education degrees in teaching ABE/ESOL. What I’m looking for is what graduation requirements there are in the area of assessment for teachers graduating in ABE/ESOL (think broadly: can be family literacy, or workplace, or technology, or something else). When I did my Master’s in ESOL in the 80’s, I took one overview course in assessment and that was all. I have a sneaking suspicion that not much has changed – esp. gauging from what I’m hearing at the K-12 level (even with no child left behind’s focus on accountability). But perhaps someone will happily break my assumption!? You can email me off-list, unless Jackie and list members feel like they want to discuss this area of pro d. Thanks, marie marie.cora@hotspurpartners.com
