Have you ever felt that you learned something from adult learners in your class? Is learner leadership something you want to see grow in your state, but you're not sure how to get started? Last month, I had the good fortune of being able to attend the VALUE Institute in Washington, D.C. At the Institute I met Will Grant (Co-founder of BLAST, New Mexico's student leadership project), and I realized that there was a wonderful opportunity for a NIFL-AALPD discussion that I did not want to miss. So I invited Will and others from NM, MA, VT, TX, and FL who have participated in the VALUE state leadership training to join the list _beginning next week_ to discuss student involvement in professional development, learner leadership, and the VALUE training. We have framed a two-part discussion (see below), and I will send out more information tomorrow. I hope you are as excited about this opportunity as I am! If you know of anyone interested in the role of student involvement in teacher training, please invite them to participate.
