Hi Katrina, All,
Thanks Katrina, for your response to my question. Program-based PD would make
for an interesting discussion. We can also create a program-based PD section
in the PD area of the ALE Wiki, along with state PD. Messages posted on the
AALPD list that describe a program's PD initiatives can then be linked in the
ALE Wiki -- creating the beginnings of a library of program and state PD
activities.

Another way to learn about issues/topics and share data from workshops and the
like, would be for the facilitator to post a facilitator's agenda in the PD
Registry. One could include some of the things you mention as well, like data,
the accompanying handouts/overheads/powerpoints, facilitator notes or
questions about how to improve upon/revise the training, etc. This is another
way we might learn from one another.

Speaking of PD topics, what are the some of the hot topics for professional
development this year? What are some of the challenges folks on this list are
facing in offering professional development? What, if anything, about the
focus of your work has changed?

Thanks again! Jackie

>I think featuring a state's PD model/system is good, but what about states
who don't have a model or system in place statewide? Here, training is mostly
left to individual institutions even though the state provides a training
calendar on the state website. Individuals from in or out of state may
facilitate training at conferences throughout the year and for some that may
be the only exposure to PD. I'd like to hear about issues/topics that
others on the list have actually facilitated. It would be nice if there were a
means to share data from workshops/training that others have been to other
than training like COABE or other large groups.
