I work for Literacy Volunteers of America, Inc. (LVA) as the program development director charged with implementing LVA Accreditation of volunteer literacy programs and managing our joint LVA/LLA NIFL-Hub grant for Learning Disabilities and Training Dissemination. Any information requests that pertain to assessment, testing, accreditation, data collection, and outcome measurement are sent my way as well. Will commented that assessment and evaluation are used interchangeably in the literacy field. I also find that accountability, outcomes measures, and indicators of program quality are used occasionally in the same fashion. We in the adult literacy field use indicators to mean standards in the non-profit world. I'm finding that we have define the terms as we use them. And . . . then there is the learning disabilities field that clearly defines the difference between screening and diagnosis. Do you see the difference when we assess adult literacy students for basic skills? Kaye **************** LVA is committed to innovation, leadership, and quality. Kaye Beall P. O.
