Jennifer:
I used a standardized QOLI (Quality of Life Inventory.
in a recent study. It is a 32 item short test that
can be administered individually or as a group. It
asks students to reply to 16 questions that measure
their satisfaction with their lives. Question asked
for each of the follow areas are: How important is
this area (i.e. learning)to your happiness? How
satisfied are you with this area (i.e.learning:

The areas represented are: Health; self-esteem; money;
work; goals and values; children; play; learning;
creativity; love; home; friends; relatives;
neighborhood; and community.

It can be hand-scored and used individually or
compared with a standardized sample very similar to
our ABE population or to others in your group.

There is also room at the end for comments. I know
this is not exactly what you asked about but it is a
easy to administer for any level student and their
answers provide a jumping off place to address goals
and challenges.
