I am the professional development specialist in assessment for the SABES (System of Adult Basic Education Support) System in Massachusetts, and I am the editor of the annual publication Adventures in Assessment. I'm very interested in learning about issues in the assessment/accountability movement in general, what other states are doing to meet federal accountability demands, and what practitioners are doing in the classroom to meet a variety of local and national requirements with tools and processes that frankly fall short of the quality we are looking for. The questions and issues that participants post to this list provide me with snapshots of what some of the needs are in this area of ABE. It's been interesting. thanks, marie cora Marie T. I am eager to try to energize activity and dialogue. It would be enormously helpful if you could take a moment and respond to the question: Why did I join the assessment list? Your answers will help generate new topics for discussion and opportunities to exchange ideas and practice about assessment with your colleagues across the country. Thank you for your help and support. Best, Diane Rosenthal NIFL Assessment Moderator Executive Director LVSG (203)324-5214
