Does anyone know of good models or alternative assessments used for PLAR
documentation (i.e. Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition). We are
interested in pursuing the use of the Canadian Language Benchmarks for
documentation in PLAR portfolios - and are interested in how that is done.

I'm particularly interested in alternative assessment approaches for PLAR
purposes - rather than simply documentation of a test score such as TOEFL.
An alternative approach might be for example formal assessment tasks
developed and administered by an assessment expert that relate specifically
to the client's PLAR goals.

I joined because I'm an adult education practitioner teaching ESL?ABE,
technology integration and employment skills for a community-based
organization. I am responsible for implementing CT and federally mandated
assessments, and using the interpretive tools to develop curriculum,
individualize instruction and prepare lesson plans based on class profiles.
I
am also interested in assessment tools that attempt to map the
"intangibles,"
the "soft" skills which we all know develop but it's difficult to account
for
except anecdotally.
