We are interested in pursuing the use of the Canadian Language Benchmarks for documentation in PLAR portfolios - and are interested in how that is done. I'm particularly interested in alternative assessment approaches for PLAR purposes - rather than simply documentation of a test score such as TOEFL. An alternative approach might be for example formal assessment tasks developed and administered by an assessment expert that relate specifically to the client's PLAR goals. -----Original Message----- From: nifl-assessment@nifl.gov [mailto:nifl-assessment@nifl.gov]On Behalf Of bodiorne Sent: June 5, 2003 9:02 AM To: Multiple recipients of list Subject: [NIFL-ASSESSMENT:273] RE: Why did you join? I joined because I'm an adult education practitioner teaching ESL?ABE, technology integration and employment skills for a community-based organization. I am responsible for implementing CT and federally mandated assessments, and using the interpretive tools to develop curriculum, individualize instruction and prepare lesson plans based on class profiles. I am also interested in assessment tools that attempt to map the "intangibles," the "soft" skills which we all know develop but it's difficult to account for except anecdotally.
