One of the series of 20 or so manuals in the series is for "Industrial Trades" which includes construction area. These manuals are a wealth of information delivered in clear, plain language intended for newcomers to Canada. I am certain that you will find them useful in your research. They can be downloaded free of charge. There are others in the series that reference specific construction related occupations and the website includes an alphabetical listing of specific trades/occupations and which manual addresses it. http://www.stepstoemployment.net/ -----Original Message----- From: nifl-assessment@nifl.gov [mailto:nifl-assessment@nifl.gov]On Behalf Of joy evans Sent: June 10, 2003 12:55 PM To: Multiple recipients of list Subject: [NIFL-ASSESSMENT:280] Re: why did I join? Dear All I am involved in an action research project which is exploring the best way of "embedding basic skills" into the construction industry. I am interested in any research/practice that you are aware of that focuses on teaching basic skills within construciton courses or that looks at ways of delivering basic skills onsite to construction industry employees. The project is particularly interested in those workers who are over 25 years old. Have any of worked with construction industry employees or researched into this? Thank you for your help.
