Good morning (or afternoon, or evening) to you all!

SO sorry to be out of touch! Busy week last week was: did anyone who was
at the COABE conference in Columbus attend anything interesting or
provocative related to assessment? We'd love to hear about it!

Getting back 'round to our discussions: Karen, George, Ralf and others have
been having an interesting and fairly high-level discussion about conducting
research - and you all have provided some definitions and resources for
those of us who are less knowledgeable about research trends, so thanks for
that.

I wonder if any one of you (or others out there on the list) could bring
this discussion back to assessment for us?

Research and tests:
How might particular research trends help or hinder us in our quest for good
assessment tools? Is this type of research used presently to identify or
develop good assessment practices? Or are these research methods ever
applied to finding out if any of our present assessment tools are sound?
(Ok you Test Developers!!! Jump on in there!!!!)

OR

Research and the classroom teacher and assessment:
Are these research methods ones that a classroom teacher could employ?
Which types? For what purposes? How might understanding some of these
research approaches help the teacher in the classroom?

OR: any other connection to assessment that strikes you.

Thanks!
