I checked with Philip Less at the Arkansas Dept. of Workforce Education,
Adult Education Section, and he said that in Arkansas, local programs may
continue to use the Slosson for diagnostic purposes, but may not use the
results of the Slosson for NRS reports or to place students in NRS
educational functioning levels (EFL). Acccording to page 4 of the Arkansas
NRS guidelines:

Other assessments, such as the Wide Range Achievement Test, Slosson Oral
Reading Test, and Jordan Oral Screening Test, among others, may be given to
help inform instruction; however they may not be used to place a student in
an EFL or to determine educational gain or EFL advancement.

Dear Friends: I need to know, quickly, about the use of the Slosson Oral
Reading Test in programs that get WIA funding. Are there states who accept
the Slosson as a viable assessment for NRS purposes, and are there any that
have specifically rejected it and do not accept it for NRS purposes? Many
thanks.

For the Cause! Debbie
