I don't really know anything about MELT; however, I thought others on the list would be interested in it or might have used it and be interested in discussing?? 1. From one NWAC subscriber, the following comment about MELT: MELT competencies are based on the BEST test for ESL students. Gives you an excellent way to measure progress. 2. From another NWAC subscriber, more information on MELT: Here is the information about MELT that you requested. The OTAN Adult Literacy Reference Collection has a copy of the training resource package (1985) and technical assistance resource package (1986). Each is over 200 pages long. The purpose of the resource package is to provide guidance to English Language Training (ELT) service providers. Products included are 1. The MELT Core Curriculum 2. The Student Performance Level (SPL) 3. The Basic English Skills Test (B.E.S.T.) and Administrative Manuals.
