Recently, Claire Russell posted a message requesting information on
materials appropriate for Spanish language ABE/pre-GED/GED
instruction. The National Clearinghouse for ESL Literacy Education
(NCLE) has produced a minibibliography of ERIC database materials on
Spanish language literacy instruction. The bibliography includes
ERIC documents and journal articles on both theory/background and
actual instructional materials. (For those interested, there also is
a theoretically-oriented minibibliography on general native language
literacy instruction available.)

Anyone interested in receiving copies of either/both
minibibliographies can email their name and complete mailing address
to me, and I will be happy to have them sent to you.

On a personal note, as the research/technical assistant here at NCLE,
a part-time adult ESL instructor, and a student completing an M.Ed.
(TESL concentration) at George Mason University, I have a
multiplicity of interests in the subjects/activities/challenges
discussed on NIFL-ESL. While efforts in native language
instruction, low-level literacy instruction, computer-assisted
instruction, and assessment are of most interest to me personally, I
am finding the variety of topics discussed here to be informative and
encouraging. This list is a wonderful forum, support system and
source of information!
