The purpose is to introduce both the language and the techniques for looking for work in Canada. (If you're in the US, I'm sure a lot of it is transferable information.) The videos and guides include: The preparation: matching skills and interests to occupations and presenting this info in a resume. THe search: searching out employment opportunities and submitting applications, resumes and covering letters. The interview: preparing for interviews and being interviewed. I've used the first part: the preparation and recommend it highly. Real ESL learners and their cases are used throughout the video. The materials were produced under a grant by Human REsources and Labour Canada in 1994 by the London (Ontario) Language Training Advisory Council. THey are available in public libraries here. Permission is given to reproduce videos and manuals for educational purposes. Hope this helps. Lynn Horvat
