Last year, many adult literacy practitioners helped us by responding to
NCSALL's Literacy Program Questionnaire that was posted on this listserv.
Through those e-mailed responses as well as responses to questionnaires we
mailed to programs, we heard from hundreds of adult literacy practitioners. With
the
information we obtained, we were able to create a typology of adult literacy
programs nationwide. This typology will soon be available from NCSALL (the
National Center for the Study of Adult Learning and Literacy at Harvard
University Graduate School of Education.)
We are now beginning a new study which will focus on the home literacy
practices of students in different kinds of adult literacy programs. Below
is a brief description of the study. If you are interested in participating
or have any questions about the study, please e-mail Victoria Purcell-Gates,
the head researcher, at the e-mail address below. (Please do not reply to
the listserv!)
We truly hope that you will join us in this new phase of our research.
Sincerely,
Erik Jacobson, NCSALL Research Assistant
