Among it's developers are Autumn Keltner (a well know ESL expert) and Linda Taylor (who also developed the BEST test). CASAS consists of a number of different tests. There are reading and math tests based on an employment context and a life skills context. These tests can be used with native and non-native speakers at the appropriate skill level. There is also an ESL listening series. In addition, there is an ESL level 1 completion test which measures listening and reading skills in the context of a story about an immigrant family. For more information about CASAS, I suggest you check out their web site at http://www.casas.org/ or contact Ingrid Greenberg at CASAS 1-800-255-1036. > -----Original Message----- > From: BAUMVV@aol.com [SMTP:BAUMVV@aol.com] > Sent: Thursday, December 03, 1998 4:58 PM > To: Multiple recipients of list > Subject: [NIFL-ESL:2699] RE: CASAS > > I believe CASAS was designed for a population whose first language is > English, > and not an ESL population.
