WANTED: Opinions/guesses on results from WHAT MAKES YOU AN EFFECTIVE TEACHER?
I've compiled many teacher responses and am a little baffled by some of the
data. What is your take on the following data:
Demograhics on teachers: experienced v. inexperienced; over 30 years of age
v. under 30 years of age; college/adult ed v. public school; female v. male.
Scale: 1: very impt 2: impt 3. moderately impt. 4. not impt. 5.
irrelevant

Q: Why do public school teachers think it is twice as impt to lecture on
content of the text as do college teachers?

Q: "Loves" what (s)he does. College/adult ed Ts. gave 13% VERY IMPT; 63%
MODERATELY IMPT AND 25% IRRELEVANT. All other groups gave 90%-100% in VERY
IMPT AND IMPT categories.

Q. Has a highly structured lesson plan. Males responded VERY IMPT (67%) and
IMPT (33%) while other groups responded NOT IMPT (17 TO 67%).
College Ts %s are: VI 13; IMP 0; MOD 50; NOT IMP 25; IRREL 13
Public Sch %s are: VI 20 IMP 20; MOD 40 NOT IMP 20

Q: Values spontaneity by teaching "off the cuff" without preparation.
College Ts % are: VERY IMPT 100%,
Exper Ts " " 17%
UNDER 30 " " 25%
PUBLIC SCH " " 20%
FEMALE " " 17%

If you have any opinions, ideas, guesses, please let me know. I'm interested
in what you have to say.
