Some comments:'
Lecturing - Most people teach the way they were taught. ESL teaching is an
easy entry field and many people are teaching who have no background, teacher
training, staff development or strong knowldedge of the major concepts of the
field.
Unfortunately, many newcomers are unaware of the body of knowledge that exists
that would inform their teaching.

College adult ed teacher re "loves what they're doing" - Many college adult ed
teachers, work hard to patch together a number of jobs at different places to
be able to support themselves. Their working conditions and salaries differ
from regular college teachers. Maybe this influences their responses.
