Family storytelling is a good way to invoke familial participation. I went to a seminar recently on storytelling given by Eileen Silva Kindig. She has out a book entitled "Remember the Time...". She is a native to Ohio, but is known nationwide. I would recommend her book for reference on forming storytelling groups. I would recommend you to look up The National Center For Family Literacy at: www.famlit.org .They are a great resource. Too, use the search words "family literacy" and conduct a web search for more info. I would also recommend our statewide resource for literacy info, The Ohio Literacy Resource Center at: literacy.kent.edu . They are located at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. They have recently put together the Family Literacy Resource Book. Best Wishes, Maureen A. O'Rourke Family Literacy Coordinator Columbus Literacy Council Americorps VISTA
