Waterford has reported receiving very positive results from the use of Waterford with second language learners. What our department has found, (as reported by classroom teachers), as we travel throughout the state for monitoring purposes or to offer technical assistance is the following: New arrival students with low-literacy skills find the program very frustrating Level 1 & 2 students are finding success with Waterford when coupled with a native language education assistant or fellow student. Level 3 students and above seem to be really successful with Waterford and progressing nicely.... Basically, the child needs to have at least a beginning oral base in English... Hope this helps....
