Adult ESL instructors in community colleges --

For the LOWEST SKILL LEVEL (Level 0 or whatever you call it):
1. How long are your class sessions & how many days/week?

2. How many weeks are the courses, semesters or whatever?

3. How many days/week can students attend?

4. Can students enroll in more than one section of the same course? (Ex.:
if classes meet M/W & T/Th, may students enroll in BOTH
sections?)

5. What curriculum or text do you use?

6. Who decides/chooses the curriculum/text?

7. Is the EXACT same course (same # hours, text) offered to both morning &
evening sections?

8. If a different # of hours is offered in one time slot than another
(Ex.: 4 days X 2hrs/day in the morning; 2 days X 2hrs/day
in the evening), IS IT THE SAME COURSE?

I'm trying to re-examine (re-define ?) my professional stance on these
items as my dept. makes some changes with which I'm not comfortable -- for
myself or my students.

Thanks, DRS (NC)
