Fran will be joining PBS LiteracyLink as the coordinator of the CONNECT project, effective December 28, 1999. CONNECT is a web-based ESL distance learning project that will build on PBS's LiteracyLink. We established the ESL discussion list with Fran as the moderator and a few subscribers in March 1995. We started in a rather new environment then, not knowing how well we could achieve our goals in bringing the literacy field together on critical issues and providing an environment and tools for sharing resources and ideas. Fran was one of four NIFL list moderators who helped in shaping the list policies and activities. Thanks to her resourcefulness, skills and expertise, the ESL list became an inviting environment for many practitioners to communicate and help each other. Today, the list has grown into a very lively list with over 800 subscribers and many others who use the LINCS archives to take advantage of the collective wisdom of the list subscribers I also would like to thank Fran for her contributions in the development of many other aspect of LINCS and her help in the design of the new LINCS sites. Fran will still be involved in LINCS as a member of the LINCS ESL Special Collection Advisory group and also an active member of the ESL List. Thanks again Fran for all your contributions.
