Hi, all -

A friend who works in the Central Valley of California asked the question
below, and I thought you might have some ideas

Any suggestions on books, workbooks, or materials I could get via Internet
to leave with a really nice group of Veracruzano guys [Mexico] who have 3-4
years of schooling and zero access to ESL services for them to study in
their cabin at night -books or audiocassettes?

I suggested the Oxford English Dictionary as a start and perhaps a tape with
music and accompanying lyrics (rejected since the guys are not very
"flexible" when it comes to unfamiliar (i.e. English language) music.

I also saw the literacy volume of Collaborations as a possibility (Donna
Moss et al; Heinle and Heinle) although I don't remember to what extent the
text requires a teacher (these guys have no access to an adult class).

Cross- roads seemed too high and too expensive -

Any further ideas on audio cassettes or materials ?

thanks in advance

Heide
