Anyone? I can't help but answer this with some of my ideas: I have students learn to use an answering machine and voice mail. I have an old machine in my room and I divide the students into groups. They practice using the machine to record their voice and say something like I am busy and can't come to the phone. Please leave your name, address, a brief message and the date and time you called and I will return your call as soon as possible. You can also do this by having each group use a tape recorder. They love practicing and listening back to their voice. I also give them a copy of my voice so they can do a comparison. Next I have each student call my voice mail and leave a message. My students tell me that it is very hard to do but once they do it, it is always one of the activities they like best about the class. Another project my students do is use the video camera to record a photo story. Students bring in photos and then record a story about their life. You can see one of these although the quality is very bad. It is at: http://home.earthlink.net/~sgaer/maria.html --quality is horrible because I was learning how to put video online. I also teach students how to use an OHP and have them practice using it. What other activities with low tech do others use? ===== Susan Gaer, Santa Ana College, School of Continuing Education 2900 W Edinger Ave Santa Ana, CA 92704 (714)564-5016 Fax: (714)434-7920 __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
