I don't know what the research (if any) says, but I find that reading aloud
from time to time is a good way to ensure that the students occasionally hear
a native accent and to hear the proper pronunciation of words that are new to
them, as well as intonation, etc. Since my class is a reading course, they
do quite a bit of silent reading.
